Fieldstudy: response to the theme Silver Spoon

This object represents my complete knowledge of sugar production in East Anglia in 2019, locations of the landsape dominating sugar factories, hectares given to beet growing and yield. I find it interesting that I choose not to be informed about a process that is dominant in and around the town where I live. Making this object has brought to mind the ancient systems of using knotted twines for crop rotation systems and also addresses my interest in handheld objects as a guide or connection to our surroundings.

The casing is woven from grasses and found wire from the narrow field margins.
