Developed by Art Branches, with Stephanie Hartick.
Trees in Town explores how people can reconnect with trees through art processes and encourages a closer look and understanding of our urban environment. The project forms part of the Woodland Trust’s national tree charter: a national initiative to redefine the relationship between trees and people in the UK.
The project involved environmental/art activities in schools and outdoor opportunities where people could draw and find out more about the trees we live with.
A competition was held to invite contributions of drawing and poetry for a Trees in Town booklet, this received nearly 200 contributions from all generations. Over 100 people turned up at the project celebration to view the artwork.
